Jesus announces the hour of His glorification and teaches that unless a grain of wheat dies, it cannot bear fruit. He must be lifted up to draw all people to Himself and calls us to walk in the light and become children of light.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now some Greeks were among those who went up to worship at the festival. So they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and requested of him, \u201cSir, we want to see Jesus.\u201d Philip went and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesus replied to them, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Truly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains by itself. But if it dies, it produces much fruit. The one who loves his life will lose it, and the one who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, he must follow me. Where I am, there my servant also will be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now my soul is troubled. What should I say\u2009? Father, save me from this hour. But that is why I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Then a voice came from heaven: \u201cI have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crowd standing there heard it and said it was thunder. Others said, \u201cAn angel has spoken to him.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesus responded, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This voice came, not for me, but for you. Now is the judgment of this world. Now the ruler of this world will be cast out. As for me, if I am lifted up from the earth I will draw all people to myself.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He said this to indicate what kind of death he was about to die. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then the crowd replied to him, \u201cWe have heard from the law that the Messiah will remain forever. So how can you say, \u2018The Son of Man must be lifted up\u2019? Who is this Son of Man?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesus answered, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The light will be with you only a little longer. Walk while you have the light so that darkness doesn\u2019t overtake you. The one who walks in darkness doesn\u2019t know where he\u2019s going. While you have the light, believe in the light so that you may become children of light.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Jesus said this, then went away and hid from them. (John 12:20-36)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
